Bowler profile visibility & privacy

Profile pages follow strict visibility rules, checked on every request:

  • Adults are public by default: like a printed standing sheet, but each bowler has a per-profile public switch you can turn off.
  • Youth leagues: never. A bowler who appears only in youth leagues gets no public page and no URL at all. A bowler in both youth and adult leagues gets a page showing only their adult-league stats.
  • The hidden-bowlers list still wins. A bowler hidden in one league keeps their page via other leagues, but that league’s stats disappear from it. Hidden everywhere = no page.
  • Inactive or non-public leagues don’t count toward visibility.

Data requests

The Bowler Privacy tools on the Data Integrity page cover profiles too: exports include profile fields, and permanently anonymizing a bowler also deletes their profile, league links, and photo.

URLs

Profile URLs use the bowler’s name (e.g. /bowlers/pat-smith/); the base path is configurable in Settings. When two bowlers are merged, the old URL redirects to the surviving profile.
